Returning calls.

Is the world really that inconsiderate that NO ONE calls you back? I work in customer service. I spend a lot of my day dealing with customers and their service issues. I take pride in finding the perfect way to fix a problem and/or provide them with service they remember.
I call you back when I say I am going to call you back.
Even if I don't have an answer, I call you back to tell you that I haven't figured it out yet.
If I refer someone to another business partner, I call the customer back a few days later to follow up and make sure they were contacted.

Time and time again, I get the sound of utter suprise for what I am doing.

There is something really wrong with that.
